What is a CMS and why do I need it?

A CMS or Content Management System is a system that organizes a websites architecture and assets while allowing for easy editing to website content, menus, media and other components.
Simply put a CMS allows users with very little technical background or knowledge of web programing to manage their website with relative ease. CMS allow you to create and edit your website content via WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editors, kind of like editing a document in MS Word. Fortunately most CMS are open source, meaning they are free and generally well supported by large user communities. Our preferred open source CMS packages include WordPress (www.wordpress.com) and Drupal (www.drupal.com).

If CMS are free why do you charge for CMS Integration?

Our process of CMS Integration takes a static HTML website or web design, which typically cannot be changed without some general knowledge of web development and web programing. We “port” these designs into a CMS system so you have complete control over your sites content without having to pay a developer every time you want to make a change. Typically we build a homepage and subpage template for your CMS and charge per page to import your existing content and layout. A lot of time and development goes into the initial setup of your CMS and in the end you wind up with a flexible website that can easily grow with your business. In the long run it is well worth the investment.
We can add CMS Integration to any web design project or we can integrate your existing website into a CMS package for you. Our rates for CMS Integration (WordPress, Drupal or Joomla) are:
